Color, Color, And More Color
My haul of Harrisville Highland arrived last week. All those lovely colors will become a tapestry one day. I am using this yarn for my sample in the Warp & Weft class with Rebecca Mezoff. I had bought just enough to do the class and was thinking that I needed more of it to be able to do a project after the class was finished.
I started by ordering 7 skeins in warmer colors. Harrisville has a very limited supply of this yarn. Many of the colors I would have chosen were out of stock.
The next I realized I will be out of the cool colors I had so I needed to replenish some of them. Once again a limited color palette was available. I feel like these colors will give me a head start.
I found this really cute Turkish Spindle on ETSY. It has been fun learning how to use her. It's from Mielkes Fiber Supply. I like it so much I have ordered a bigger one. The interesting thing about a Turkish Spindle is that the way the yarn is wrapped around the spindle makes a center pull ball when you are finished. I think that is a pretty cool thing. It takes more time for winding, but the thing is it lets you slow down in a meaningful way.
I started taking a course called Fodder School 2. This is the notebook I made to record my experiments, successes, and failures for the year. Right now I am in the midst of doing some mono printing and making a lot of papers for collage. I am also doing Journal Into Your Art with Megan Quinlan, but there is nothing to show yet. I have been waiting for supplies to arrive and then I can make my journal and get going.
