The 30 Day Wool Dress Challenge
Today I am starting the 30 day wool dress challenge put on by Wool&. This is the Camellia Tank dress in Lapis. It is one of the pieces I have bought to take to Shetland when I go in August of this year. I am planning to wear as a tunic, one of many layers I will be wearing. It going to be cold so layers of wool should definitely help. The dress is light merino wool jersey fabric and it feels great. Wooland.com has been running the 100 Day dress challenge for awhile but the 30 day challenge is new. The premise is the same for both challenges. You wear the dress and post a picture daily for the duration 30 days or a 100 days and then you get a gift card for the amount of days. If you do 30 days and want to continue you can but you can claim only one reward. I thought I would give it a go. I wasn't sure I could do the 100 days but I know 30 will be easy to do. I'll be posting the daily photos on social media.
I had dental surgery yesterday and I was so worried about the procedure that I neglected to think what the recovery would be like. The procedure went well, my only pain was from the shots which was good as I previously had a really bad experience. So now its ice packs, difficulty eating anything but soft foods. I tried a cup of tea this morning which was bad. Even using a straw was painful and frustrating. Not being able to brush my teeth is really weird. It will all pass in time. Right now when I look in the mirror I see Yennifer from the Witcher before her transformation. I'd laugh but that makes it hurt. Time to catch on some reading.
I picked up this current deck from Chris-Anne after a friend did a reading for me. It was pretty amazing. Enough to make me want to get the deck even though I was not drawn to it at all. I have enough decks that I don't need any more. I love the idea there are 2 fool cards. The cards all have quirky characters on them and they do make me laugh. The guidebook has some spreads that I find so interesting and the readings help me understand myself and a the journey I am on. I highly recommend this deck.
One of the things I want to do on my upcoming trip is urban sketching. I am a bit out of practice with staying home the past 2 years. My bookshelf is full of great books on sketching like the one shown above. To jump start things, I am going over my books and making some plans to get out there as soon as the weather is a little better. I had a chat with a sketcher friend the other day and picked her brain a bit on connecting with artists on my trip. She had some great ideas. I also started watching Sketchbook Skools Urban sketcher course over again. It starts with Jason Das and I really like him so that's been a pleasure.
Knitting Woes
So you may be wondering where is all the knitting content.I am feeling in a little lull there. I had planned to make the Hap Cowl but decided in the end not to. The yarn I was using was original spun for socks and was tightly twisted and I didn't think it would work that well for a cowl. My other project The Maja Cardigan has issues. I had connected the sleeves and body to do the yoke and realized my stitch count was off. I have taken it apart to diagnose the problem so it's in limbo right now. My third WIP is the
Lace hat for the trip has taken off and I think will work this time. Fingers crossed.
I haven't talked about my resurgence with cross stitch. This is a huge sampler that I started maybe thirty years ago. Its called Earth Song and was designed by Tina Richards from Shepherd Bush in Ogden, Utah. This is the bottom that you are seeing. I hadn't realized I was so close to finishing it. Although there is still a lot to do I do see this being finished this year. I try and work on it at least 20 minutes a day.
Lastly this is what is on my loom. A set of napkins using a gradient pattern. The pink lines are for turning the hem. I wove one lighter and now one darker. I'll have a set of four when finished.
